We have been experiencing a problem in Abbotsford. As loyal DA supporters we have now decided to turn to you, as our councillor, for assistance. In Main road/Smythelands road, we have a huge influx of traffic and some use this road as a sort of Grand Prix circuit. There is a Pres-chool opposite the Spar in Main Road and People also Speed down the road. We have asked the Municipality on numerous occasions to put up speed bumps, to no avail. On the corner of White avenue and Main road, an accident due to speeding, disabled a street light, five months ago, which still hasn’t been fixed and our street name signs have been stolen and not yet replaced, also after numerous requests to the Municipality. I sympathise with you 100% as I sit here, I heard a truck flying down Smythelands… I wonder if you have ever seen us petitioning at the Abbotsford spar, for traffic calming in Main road, Smythelands and Two Rivers… We have had over 300 people sign our petitions and submitted them to BCM and still nothing…
I have also spoken to the owners of the spar, and the lady tells me her and her husband have been trying for bumps for 20 years… In addition, our Abbotsford Sector Police forum was held on Monday at the Tennis club, and again it was the only issue that dominated the meeting, as well as last night at the Dorchester Heights Sector Police Forum… The same issues of traffic and speeding cars…
A decision was taken in our abbotsford forum to put more petitions at the spar and vet, and to sit one sat at the spar and engage again with the community… Int he meantime, I have contacted Babalo at the Dispatch and asked him to do a piece on the traffic, as when Hemingways opens it will be even worse… I have also passed your number onto him, should he need anymore comment… Trust me I am doing all I can to solve the issue, as it affects me as well, being a Dorchester Heights resident, living very near the Main Road…
I will keep you updated on the progress. And thanks for your support and input.. It is much appreciated. Dont hesitate to comment on the Ward 29 Issues page with any other sugggestions for issues I can Address
